February 22, 2012

London is usually seen as the "shortest" or "weakest" fashion week out of the four. However, while it does lack the "wow" gowns that are frequently observed in NY, I did find a couple of exciting and unique trends (and of course, jewels!!) in London that I wasn't seen elsewhere. The attention is moved to cocktail dresses, various forms of pencil skirts, and most importantly, what patterns and prints can do to a simply tailored outfit. Makeup is more natural-toned in London as well, with red-lips and winged eyes (in NY as well!) spotted here and there. Military inspired headgear are also popular.

Some of my favorite detail shots from Burberry Prorsum:

Cylinder-shaped weekender/purses are my favorites from the runway so far. They are chic and relaxing looking! Loving the color contrasts here as well.

Only Burberry would have carved animal heads on clutches and umbrella handles. Studded leather gloves are a plus as well.

Just like in NY, I would want to pick out my favorite collections in a few "categories" that I made up. (Yay I kept some from NY's wrap-up post!)
Best show: Burberry
Most dramatic: Giles
Best prints: Mary Katrantzou
Favorite casual: Topshop Unique
Most fabulous: Muberry
Most surprising (for me): Jean Pierre Braganza

What do you think about LFW this season?
