Two-nic. Haha, get it? :D XD

So, the temperature is climbing to upper 70s lower 80s next week in Columbia. It may leave you wondering...dafuq? I know. Me too. I've been eye-ing this gorgeous tunic from Madewell ever since it appeared on Erin Wasson in the label's spring lookbook. It's super airy, super chill, super gorgeous, AND anti-foodbaby. So today, I thought of TU ways to work this into my (dream) wardrobe.

Outfit a gauche: hangout by seaside and show some legs with a pair of boyfriend shorts. How cute are those Nicholas Kirkwood sandals?! Wear a black bikini of sorts underneath the top and have a couple of thin delicate ornaments around your neck and chest. Carry the rest of your stuff in a Chloe Marcie, which I actually own out of all the things I pick for these damn outfits.

Outfit a droite: city dwellers and office workers of the creative kind can half-tuck this tunic in some cropped white jeans or a pair of long relaxed boyfriend jeans that hit the ground. Equally relaxed are these Birkenstocks which I love more than the 'Arizona' style that is worn by every blogger ever existed. Carry a large sophisticated Coach Borough bag which is quite impressive (so is the price). Add some fun to the outfit by wearing this very pretty J.Crew scarf.

I have some TUnes picked out for tomorrow. Stay TUned.

March 23, 2014

One fourth of the year is almost gone and it's still freezing in the mornings. But nothing stops me from dreaming about spring. Not even you, the 2048 game! In the bare hours when I'm not completely addicted to 2048 (both the original and the doge editions), I made these two lewks for a warm (and colorful) welcome to this impending season, whenever it decides to show.

Lewk #1 features my favorite pants among all the J.Crew new arrivals from January to April. I thought the print is very "tropical greenery overload but still not excessive because it's all the same color." They're suitable for all seasons if you think about it and that's a good thing if I have to shell out $200 for them. So, I started from there and suddenly this H&M top came to my mind. It's sort of genius to pair them together, because the pants are somewhat "smart" and conservative, yet the top is so bohemian and free. To tone down the sexiness of the top (bare shoulder AND bare abs? Can't leave the house like that!), I thought it's time to add a panama hat. Hats are never out of style even though most of them look ridiculous on me. And I'm not kidding. My head is not built for hats. I know the hat doesn't cover up any more skin than the top does, but theoretically, I could take off the hat and cover it on my belly. The lovely green pants are cropped  thus the Opening Ceremony ankle-strap sandals. I really love the breathability of the heels which can make you look like you're levitating from afar. Lastly I thought, why not adding more colors?! The classic red Coach mini Borough bag is perfect if you want to hold it by its handles or use it as a crossbody. Versatility is everything.

Again, H&M velvet top, J.Crew Panama hat, J.Crew Collection cropped pant in photo lace, Opening Ceremony sandals, Coach mini Borough bag.

Lewk #2 is constructed around my love for oversized shirt worn as a dress and shades of army green. This top is from Zara and there are many designer dupes by brands like that. I think I first fell in love with a perfect oversized shirt when sighting a very clean white one on a Balenciaga runway. I never liked green until recently, when I randomly started appreciating the richer hues or those tan safari colors that are very earthy (like this cami in "safari fatigue"). Because I'm short, I would definitely wear the shirt-dress with something with heels. I wouldn't button the shirt up all the way though. I think that kind of styling works better on models. I would wear it open sorta like a beach coverup, with a long delicate necklace. On my neck I'd use this bandana as a neckerchief. And that cuff sorta matches with it even though I'm not one that do matching, so I'll say, it resonates with the neck actions. Again I picked a Coach bag.

Zara shirt, Tabitha Simmons sandals, J.Crew necklace and cuff, Madewell camo bandana, Coach Bleecker mini.

If I remember correctly, there were some amazing desert-inspired nail polishes by Dior from a couple of years ago that would do great with my new color cravings. Unfortunately they were limited edition.

Seriously though, where's a 2048 rehab?

March 15, 2014

Hey guys, I'm back from springbreak! In other words, I'll start posting again as my laptop screams in agony. I watched an hour-long Youtube video of how to disassemble a laptop and clean up the fan but eventually decided it's not for me. I mean, it looks totally doable. But I really don't want to mess up anything. At least not before I have it checked out by some professionals at first. Maybe it's time to let it go....

I love denim styles. I wear my men's (stressing, NOT my man's...but not like, multiple men...I mean, like a shirt designed for a dude! there we go...) chambray shirt like twice a week. My only southern-weather winter jacket is pretty much my 90s-but-not-actually-vintage denim jacket. I found these following ladies rocking some really interesting denims from various sites (thanks to Who What Where giving me a headstart.) I know the boyfriend jean trend has been going on for a while, but I can never really find good looking affordable pairs that work on me, a short, not super skinny person. It's always too baggy, not baggy enough, too much mom jean butt going on in the back, major camel toe in front, too tough to be comfortable which defeats the purpose of boyfriend jeans, among other failures. So I stick with my skinnies and painful marks on my lower abdomen. (I'm convinced they've planted themselves there for good.) So you see I've given up on this quest long ago. THOUGH, I just found some really good ones at J.Crew the other day!!! They're super soft, relaxed, and radiating cool-girl vibes.

The ones I tried on are the "Boyfriend jean in Ontario wash" (so friendly to your bottom half they're Canadian). They also have the Eastwood jean (here, and on Leandra here) which unfortunately was not in my store. The Ontario wash was SO SOFT. I've also heard good things about Madewell jeans (here, here, shorts, Chimala, Chimala).

So, I was inspired enough (cue green shimmering diamond on top of my head as in Sims) to create these two looks:

Outfit #1: Madewell leather vest, shirt; J.Crew boyfriend jeans in Ontario wash, pumps; Henri Bendel silk scarf worn as neckerchief.

Outfit #2: Madewell varsity jacket, tee, necklace; J.Crew Eastwood jean, pumps.

Lastly, I want to show y'all this:

LIJF;OADFIJLK Leandra made my week!!!! I was such a fangirl I couldn't fall asleep that night after I saw this. I've made it y'all. At least in the fashion world.

March 9, 2014

Monday: The high is in the 60s today so I definitely took this chance and put on some sandals. (Also because I painted my toes for the first time this year on Sunday night...) I'm wearing a J.Crew top, Guess jeans, and nude wedge sandals I picked up while I was in China a few years ago. They're the most comfortable heels ever due to excellent padding!

Tuesday: I went to finish up my charcoal drawing so I decided on something comfortable and easy to clean! I'm wearing a J.Crew men's sweatshirt and lace up booties.

Wednesday: COLD BLOODY HELL. It went back to below freezing today so I'm layering a ton. I really love wearing button ups/downs inside sweaters for a tomboy look. It's pretty much how I survived this winter anyways. Today I'm also going double denim as I went to take a biochem exam...I'm wearing a Uniqlo men's chambray shirt, J.Crew sweater, Denim & Supply denim jacket, and Ariat boots.

Thursday: So the weather became even more bitter today with the awful rain. At least I'm done with all my exams before spring break. But it was tough getting up early and going to do a shark and cat dissection this morning. Formaldehyde kills me...Though it was nice having lunch with the lot in the Felder /Vrana lab. I already had lunch when I went to meet them so I had a giant caramelized apple pie with a big blob of ice cream on top. I feel like I had as much dessert as I would usually have all year lol. The lighting was terrible in the photo because there's no sun so it's super dark outside (my room's lighting is always terrible), and I had to opt for this black&white picture instead. Sorry about that. I'm wearing an old Guess peacoat, pretty blue/white scarf gifted by the loveliest Stephanie (not you, Chiuchiu), and the same Ariat boots because of weather.

Friday: Forgot to take a snap today so instead I'm using this one I took when I was in the J.Crew fitting room. It sucks not having a store in Columbia. So every time I come back home I have to go, like first thing. So many new arrivals I haven't tried!!!! I'm wearing the jeweled collar peter pan boy shirt and the minnie pant in foulard. Both fit amazingly and I really hope to get my hands on these minnies when they're on sale!

I hope you liked my first WIW post. Maybe I'll do more...

Copying styles from the likes of Taylor Tomasi Hill and Emmanuelle Alt --
V-neck dirty pink sweater + gray skinny jeans
bib front shirt + patched skinny jeans
Celine-esque sweater + maxi skirt
black silk blouse + black skinnies
All current season Zara.

Zara shoes are not reliable so I didn't use any. But Saint Laurent pumps or some casual sneakers would work across the board here.
I'm not actually keeping up with fashion weeks this time due to the amount of work I have at school. Current status: 6 posts in draft.

Styling the ambiguous

For me, the black maxi seems to be perfect to wear on campus in warm or cool weather. (Remind me why don't I own one already?) I chose this HELMUT one with a slit -- not because it's sexy (it is, btw), but because it's practical since you can actually walk in big steps unlike many other straight maxis.

#1 -- top Maison Martin Margiela x H&M, shoes Zara, sunglasses Linda Farrow for The Row, bag 3.1 Phillip Lim

#2 -- sweatshirt J.W. Anderson, shoes Tod's, scarf Silviya Neri, cardholder Proenza Schouler, lipstick Armani Beauty

Obviously, no one has to get 500 dollar sunglasses or no-longer-available tops. The take-away message is that simple (almost) b&w outfit just works if you pay attention to details. Like, I'm totally digging this under-$50 silk blouse from Uniqlo.

I will be doing a post on actual art (Matisse, Rothko, etc) soon since I'm taking a class on those. Saw some really cool works recently! Now, back to histology...

August 26, 2013

I admit that I've been browsing fall fashion way too much, when we are all still suffering from mildly humiliating humidity - cue: gross hair, fogged up glasses when exiting an A/C-to-the-max building, and that shit-I-just-showered-why-do-I-feel-like-I-need-to-shower-again feeling). But it is tempting isn't it? With all the September issues out and about and (darling) J-Law's face seductively staring into our souls wherever we go, it's quite easy to get lost on the Internet (or on the streets...for all who actually get a chance to see them in person) looking for the perfect plaid coat or V-neck cashmere sweater. Though, I have to attribute this post to that Monday blue that creeps up on everyone but the workaholics. I, as you probably have figured, should be doing my 40-page histology reading on connective tissue. It just doesn't feel right, you know, for Eileen to start reading a brand new book without some procrastinating beforehand. I'm happy that I managed to be productive during this hour.

It is advised to roll up your sleeves (casually) and half-tuck the plaid shirt. Legs don't have to be shaved but need to be toned. That skirt is mid-thigh length. No accessories necessary other than the watch. (Sunglasses and backpack are essential because of my student status.)

Shirt Uniqlo Men's, skirt Carven, sunglasses Prada, watch Shinola. backpack Christopher Kane, sandals Birkenstocks

First of all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
DEAREST DAVE & MOTHER MONSTER!

You'd say that I've been having too many picture-posts recently. But pictures are fun and not tiring to "read" right? There can never be too many picture-posts! While I am lacking thought-provoking posts about life and current issues, it doesn't mean I'm not thinking! It's just that I've spent most of my brain cells that are distributed for that purpose on my school-related stuff. :P

I haven't uploaded my Instagram photos lately and I'm pretty sure they kinda describes my life!

The food...

As you can see...I actually get some quality food at school from time to time. (Oh! Ignore that fruity meal :P) I do miss real Chinese food from time to time. But at least I'm surviving with the limited resources!

The things...

These are quite random. Spotting Stephen being sold for 13 bucks at B&N was from Spring Break which I can't quite recall in life. More on that matter later. These randomness also says that I celebrated St. Patrick's, had a photo-shoot session with Pillow Pet, read lots of Mill, was going to whiten my teeth, and went to the mall (though...I'm not the devil because those are not my Prada sunglasses ;) photo credit to Steph!).

The places...

Lab - dorm - classes - home. Pretty much the only places I stayed long enough. Oh, that last one was when I was painting the walls in my mom's new alterations store. That's why my Spring Break was a blur...worked on her new store the entire week!

The outfits...

After I complained about not having any spring yesterday, I've been experiencing some spring weather here in Columbia. Lol. That last picture features the new shirt I just got from Zara! :D I'll probably post about it since I'm super happy about this purchase. Oh, that post will also include some nail art stuffs. ;) Here are a little preview for the next post...

Goodnight!
